Biography
My present area of research is biochemical and molecular aspects of malaria. I have worked on projects related to malaria control by using Deltamethrine impregnated bed nets awarded by Malaria Research Centre (Indian Council of Medical Research), New Delhi and WHO. I have detected mutations against chloroquine and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine combinations which are given for the treatment of malaria. I have also identified mutations in nucleotide sequences of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) and dihydropteroate synthetase (DHPS) against sulfadoxine pyrimethamine combination, generally used as curative drug in resistant falciparum malaria. At the moment, I am working on clinical aspects of malaria along with mutation studies in falciparum and vivax malaria patients.
