Biography

Prof. Debashis Sengupta, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Assumsion University Thailand, is a highly accomplished industry practitioner with over 26 years of industry experience, and has held senior management positions in world-class companies globally in the domains of information technology strategy and transformation across multiple geographies including USA, UK, UAE, Thailand, India and other Asia-Pacific countries. Prior to this he was associated with HCL Technologies, as General Manager – ‘Enterprise Transformation Services’ and prior to HCL with Tata Consultancy Services as Solution Architect and Technology Consultant – ‘Global Consulting Practice’ and worked on large scale consulting and technology modernization engagements for well known clients like: University of Cambridge, JPMorgan Chase, British Telecomm in UK; International Council of Museums (ICOM) in France; T-Mobile, Computer Science Corporation, American Family Insurance, Payless, PFC in USA; SBI General Insurance and National Insurance Company Ltd in INDIA; Taiwan Mobile in Taiwan; Dubai World in UAE; Nomura Research Institute in Japan, Diwanchand Gr. and Teijin in Thailand. Professor Sengupta teaches Information Technology and Computer Science subjects like Data Science, Enterprise Architecture with Big Data and Analytics, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence, System Analysis and Design, Computer Graphics, Software Engineering, Programming Languages at the College of Engineering and Design. He also teaches Management courses like Managing Innovation and Technology, Enterprise Resource Planning, Data strategy and Modeling techniques at the School of Business for MBA -Business Analytics and Other Specializations. Professor Sengupta holds a Postgraduate Degree MS in Computer Information Systems from Assumption University, Thailand. After postgraguation, Professor Sengupta completed an Executive Education Program in Business Analytics and Intelligence from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Since January 2013 Professor Sengupta is associated with Alliance University at the College of Engineering and Design as Professor and Head, Dept. of Information Technology and at the School of Business as Professor, MBA–Business Analytics. Prof. Sengupta has 26 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Alliance University, Professor Sengupta was associated with HCL Technologies Pvt. Ltd. as General Manager, Enterprise Transformation Services and prior to HCL with Tata Consultancy Services as Solution Architect and Consultant in Global Consulting Practice. For more that seven years, Professor Sengupta was associated with a Thai-Japanese Group of Companies in Thailand as Head of IT to lead their entire Thailand operations and architect enterprise Information Technology landscape with ERP, CRM, DW & Business Intelligence initiatives. Professor Sengupta has started his Information Technology career and worked for more than 10 years with the Govt. of India at the Central Research & Training Laboratory in Electronics & Computer Science Department. Professor Sengupta is pursuing academic research in the areas of Data Science, Business Analytics, Enterprise Data Strategy and Enterprise transformation Services. Professor Sengupta has received a prestigious grant from the Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Govt. of Karnataka, Department of Information Technology for the proposed project and received a Citation from the Honorable Chairman of VGST – Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao, and is pursuing a project funded by VGST, Govt. of Karnataka.
