Biography
Dr. Smitha Nizar holds a Doctorate in Law awarded by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, India. She is a UGC NET and JRF qualified scholar and academician. She was the recipient of the gold medal from Mahatma Gandhi University for her LL. M degree with specialization in the Law of Crimes and Torts. She has a Postgraduate specialization in Public Policy. Prior to joining academics she was a practicing lawyer at the High Court of Kerala for four years. She has a number of scholarly publications in peer reviewed reputed journals. She is a research scholar in the area of disability rights and human rights. Her research in the area of legality of disability selective abortion is the first study in the world after the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2006.
