Viji Venugopal

Biography

Prof. Viji Venugopal is an alumna of National Institute of Technology, Calicut, Kerala; she holds a Master’s degree (M-Tech) with specialization in Computer Controlled Industrial Power. She completed her B-Tech degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Govt. College of Engineering, Kannur, Kerala. Currently she works in the Electrical & Electronics Department of Alliance College of Engineering and Design. She has 5+ years of experience in teaching in various reputed engineering colleges. She has worked with AWH Engineering College, Calicut, CMR Institute of Technology, Bangalore and BTL Institute of Technology, Bangalore. She has also served as Senior Research Fellow in Power Capacitors Laboratory of Central Power Research Institute, Bangalore for a period of 2 years. During her tenure in CPRI, she was associated with a BIS sponsored R&D project on ‘Development of Indian Standard Specifications for LV Automatic Power Factor Correction panels’. She was also involved in condition monitoring and testing of high voltage transformers using acoustic emission technique. Her research interests include Reactive power compensation techniques, Harmonics, Power Quality and Application of control theories to power systems.
