Biography
Dr. Sivaramakrishnan was the Head of the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology at the College of Agriculture, Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad, India. Earlier, as a Senior Scientist at the United Nations sponsored International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), he initiated the set-up of the Applied Genomics Lab and was instrumental in developing the Radioisotope Laboratory. He has also worked at the Katholieke Universities, Belgium and University of California, Davis, USA. Dr. Sivaramakrishnan has reviewed research projects for AP-Netherlands Biotechnology Programme and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. He also served as a resource person in the UNESCO sponsored regional workshop on Biotechnology in University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He was awarded the prestigious “Frosty” Hill Agricultural Research Fellowship by the Institute for Genomic Diversity, Cornell University, NY, USA for the year 2001. He also won the award for the Best Published Article by the Phytopathological Society of India for the year 2004 based on publications in the Indian J. Phytopathology. He has published almost 50 articles in International journals. His areas of research interest are Structural and Functional Genomics, Host –pathogen interaction at molecular level and Comparative Genome Mapping.
