Biography
Dr. Sathianarayanan joined as lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Amrita in February 2007. He completed his B. Pharm. and M. Pharm. from Dr. M G R Medical University, Chennai. He received his Ph. D. in Pharmacy from Karpagam University, Coimbatore. Dr. Sathianarayanan's interests broadly include Semi-synthetic, Synthetic and Phytochemical Analysis. He has a strong academic background and extensive research experience with specialization in isolation and characterization of biologically active compounds. He has knowledge in docking studies, experimental pharmacology and handling of animals like rat, mice and rabbit to screen various pharmacological action. Currently, he is involved in the Study of Isolation and Characterization of Bioactive Compounds from Herbs and Marine Organisms and Derivatization of Phytoconstituents, including the design, synthesis and development of bioactive heterocyclic compounds for the treatment of infectious diseases, cancer and immune related disorders. It is hoped that this novel approach will help a newer drug development with safety and efficacy. He received a major funded project from Ministry of Earth Sciences of Rs 75.60 lakhs for the study titled High Through Put Screening of Biological Activity of Extracts from Deep Sea Marine Organisms. The Kerala State Council For Science, Technology and Environment has also funded for the Study - Synthesis of some Novel Scaffold for Anti-Prostate Cancer.
