Biography
Dr. Narayanankutty Karuppath comes with a rich experience of 35 years working in various prestigious national and international institutions. He received his B. Sc. (physics) from the University of Madras in 1976 and his M. Sc. (Physics) from Sardar Patel University in 1978. His academic career started as being a research scholar at the departments of physics & BHU-IT of Banares Hindu University working on X-ray crystallography where he was recipient of UGC senior research fellowship. He was directly offered a scientific post at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (a premier institute, Under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India), Bangalore by the then Director, Prof. Dr. J. C. Bhattacharaya. Engaging himself in research activities in observational astronomy and astronomical image processing, he served at the Vainu Bappu Observatory of IIA (Asia’s biggest one) for one and half decades including, in his capacity as its officer-in-charge. He was also a part of the team for setting up the high altitude observatory at Leh, Ladakh in Himalayas. He left SIPL to join the Amrita fraternity at Coimbatore as a faculty of physics in 2004. He was awarded Ph.D degree by Amrita University in 2010 for his research mainly on foundations of quantum mechanics. His thesis titled, “Critical studies in aspects of quantum reality, time and some applications”, attracted excellent comments from both Indian and international referees and the research paper titled, ‘Quantum Non-Locality, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Argument and Consciousness’, attracted high appreciation from the editor of the international journal Neuroquantology. Dr. Narayanankutty research interests include Foundations of Quantum Mechanics, Astrophysics, Philosophic and Epistemological aspects of physics, Astronomical image processing, Computer graphics and Applications of Acoustics. He has been recognized as Ph. D. research guide of Bharathiar University. At present five Ph. D. research scholars are working under him.
