Biography

 Dr. Tejas Patel is an internationally acclaimed and one of the best cardiologist in India practicing in the city of Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat. Currently he is the incumbent chairman and chief interventional cardiologist at Apex Heart Institute Ahmedabad ,and also Head of cardiology in V.S hospital and Virginia commonwealth university. In mid 2015, he reported to have performed more than 85,000 cardiac procedures and interventions like angioplasty,pacemaker surgery , AICD implant, etc one of the highest number of cardiac procedures performed by any single operator in the world, with a significantly high success rate even in complicated cases. His experience of 85,000 procedures is the highest amongst any single operator in India and one of the highest in the world. Dr. Tejas Patel is the pioneer of transradial cardiac interventions in India, the technique of doing coronary interventions through the wrist instead of the groin route which was done conventionally. This technique has significantly lowered patient morbidity and has reduced hospital stay from 3  to 5 days to 12 to 24 hours. He has been awarded three prestigious awards for his contribution in the field of cardiology: Padmashri award, the fourth highest Indian civilian award from the president of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee in 2015.
