Biography
Dr. Sailesh Puntambekar is a Laparoscopic onco surgeon of national and international repute. He has been associated with Asian Institute of Medical Sciences and performed a number of surgeries, especially of Carcinoma uterus and carcinoma colon and rectum. One of his notable achievements is regarding the management in low rectal cancers. Most of these patients require complete removal of rectum so that tumor can be completely excised and then they have to be on permanent stoma (stool is passed in a bag on the abdomen). But with his expertise in laparoscopic surgery, most of such patients can undergo complete removal of tumor of rectum with presentation of normal continuity of bowel.
