Biography
Dr Debadutta Parija has worked as a Medical Consultant for the WHO RNTCP Technical Assistance Program for over ten years. He has also worked in diverse settings in this capacity, as well as with the State Headquarters Consultants in the states of Bihar, Gujarat and Odisha. Dr Parija was part of the team that implemented the Revised National TB Control Program in 35 districts of Bihar. He also participated as a Central TB Division representative in appraisal of programme preparedness and performance in most of the larger States of the country like Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttarakhand. Dr Parija was the part of the national core committees which formulated revisions in guidelines and training modules for basic TB control as well as programmatic management of drug-resistant TB. He has also facilitated various trainings for different cadres of staff working for the RNTCP. Dr Parija joined FIND as a Medical Officer in April 2015 and will be working on the introduction and maintenance of newer TB diagnostics in TB programmes for culture and DST laboratories in Eastern India.
