Biography

"Dhanya Bhaskar is in the School of Development at Azim Premji University and is deeply interested in teaching and researching sustainability from the ecological perspective. Since 2006, Dhanya has been involved in interdisciplinary research on forest/ agricultural ecosystems and has done pioneering work on fig trees in human dominated landscapes of Southern Karnataka. Prior to joining APU, she had worked for three years as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental Studies at University of Agricultural sciences, Raichur, Karnataka where she was actively involved in teaching, research and extension activities of the university. Dhanya is the recipient of Young Fellowship of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Junior and Senior Research Fellowships of the University Grants Commission. She has also been awarded Merit Scholarship of Government of Kerala for pre-degree, graduate and postgraduate studies. Research on forests and agricultural systems as social-ecological systems , policy issues in natural resource governance. Courses taught: Ecology and development, Introduction to research Course proposed for Sustainability specialization: Ecosystems approach to sustainability."
