Jayanti Ray Mukherjee
Assistant ProfessorÂ
Plant Biology
Azim Premji University
India
Biography
Jayanti's interest lies in understanding how plants cope with stress. She uses the functional trait currency to examine the mechanisms related to stress and how individual plant response to stress can shape a plant community. She is interested in explaining population and community dynamics in space and time. She utilizes a trait-based platform to evaluate plants suitable for restoration purposes. She is also very interested in understanding how researchers and managers collaborate efficiently and how the gap between the science and practice can be bridged. Her academic degrees includes Ph.D in Plant Ecology from Utah State University, USA. Prior to that she has done M.Sc and B.Sc in Botany from Viswa-Bharati University, India. Her teachings are mainly on Ecology & Evolution, Plant and their interactions, Biostatistics, Perspectives in Science, Ecology and Sustainability. She enjoys travelling, listening to music and singing, cooking, gardening, and reading about paranormal.
Research Interest
Plant ecology, stress physiology and ecology, restoration and urban sustainability, climate change and stress eco-physiology
