Biography
Dr. (Mrs.) Gitanjali Mishra, M.Sc., M.Phil, Ph.D is presently a Professor of Zoology at the Berhampur University. She started her professional career as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF-UGC) in 1983 at the P.G. Department of Zoology, BU and later went on to be a Senior Research Fellow (SRF-CSIR) and a Senior Research Associate (SRA-CSIR). She also spent three years as a Pool Officer (CSIR) at the same university. Her duties as a teacher began with the Lectureship at the NSB Mahavidyalaya, Nuvapada in 1999, where she continued for 8 years till spring of 2007. Post that, she joined the P.G. Department of Zoology, BU in March 2007 as a Reader and was appointed as a Professor in January 2016. In the last eight years at BU, she has held several administrative positions including Director, School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research; Head of the Department, Zoology; Course Coordinator of the Distance Education Centre; Superintendent of a hostel; and Secretary of the Alumni Association of the department. She has also been a member of several boards and committees of BU, including the Senate, the Academic Council, the Board of Studies, the DRDC, the Standing Committee and Advisory Board of Women Studies Research Centre, and the Ethical Committee (NAAC).
