Biography
Dr. Anil Kumar obtained his PhD degree from Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, Delhi, India under the guidance of Professor SMS Chauhan in 2004. After tow year of postdoctoral research at Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Rhode Island, Kingston, USA in Prof. Keykavous Parang group he joined Department of Chemistry, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India as Assistant Professor in 2006 and currently he is Associate Professor of Chemistry at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus. He has visited several times University of Rhode Island, Kingston during summer as visiting scientist in Prof. Parang’s laboratory. Dr. Kumar is recipient of Harrison McCain Foundation award from Acadia University, Canada for 2012, ISCB Young Scientist award in Chemical Sciences for 2013 and Dr. Arvind Kumar Memorial Award from Indian Council of Chemists for 2014. His research interest lies in development of reaction methodologies, green chemistry, ionic liquids and medicinal chemistry. He has published 135 research papers in international journals of repute in the area of synthetic organic chemistry, green chemistry and medicinal chemistry and contributed a book chapter. He has participated in several national and international symposiums/ conferences and delivered more than 30 invited lectures. He has guided three PhD students as supervisor and one as co-supervisor. Currently he is supervising 9 PhD students as supervisor and two student as co-supervisor. He has completed three research project as PI sponsored by DST, CSIR and UGC, and one as Co-PI sponsored by DST. Currently, he has one major projects from CSIR and one industry project from Ranbaxy in collaboration with Prof. Dalip Kumar. He is editor for Canadian Chemical Transactions and member of editorial advisory board for The Open Catalysis Journal and also served as a reviewer for several journals. He is life member of Chemical Research Society of India, Banglore; Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists, Lucknow; and Indian Council of Chemists, Agra.
