Biography
Dr. Mahesh Kumar Gaur completed Ph.D. in Geography from the JNV University, Jodhpur (India) and attended various training courses in India and abroad on remote sensing & GIS. Presently,he is working as Senior Scientist (Geography) at Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI / ICAR), Jodhpur (India). Earlier he worked as Associate Professor with the Department of Higher Education, Government of Rajasthan, India and taught at graduate and post-graduate level classes. He has more than 20 years of experience of teaching and research experience and have conducted various action and research, impact assessment and thematic research studies applying RS & GIS in the fields of adaptation to climate change in land use and drought/disaster management. He participated in many national & international seminars in India & abroad. There are more than published 75 research papers.
Research Interest
Application of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS & GIS) technique for natural resources mapping, Conservation, landuse/land cover mapping, climate change and adoption strategies, management and assessment, Drought, land degradation and desertification,Decetralized planning, indigenous knowledge systems as well as socio-economic milieu of the arid regions.
