Biography
Dr. Ravi S Ampapathi is currently Principal Scientist & In-Charge in the department of Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow 226031, India. He mainly focused on Role of SIX3 Homeodomain in the disease Holoprosencephaly and its interactions with Rhodopsin, β-peptides with proteinogenic side-chains as inhibitors for dimerization of transcription factors, Protein:Protein interactions followed ny In-Cell NMR, Conformational Studies on Cyclic peptides with α3γ and α3δ architecture. (In collaboration with Dr. D. Koley, CSIR-CDRI and Prof. T. K. Chakraborty, IISC, Bengaluru) and Structural studies on cyclic and linear analogues of Gramicidin-S with improved biological profiles, and their detailed structural studies in solution and membrane mimicking media. (In collaboration with Prof. T. K. Chakraborty, IISC, Bengaluru).
Research Interest
The general concept of understanding the structural basis for biochemical function, specificity and recognition of proteins. In addition, we explore novel molecular entities which folds into unprecedented structures and these projects by their nature are collaborative and collegial. Therefore, in our laboratory we use variety of techniques, including high-resolution NMR analysis of molecular structures, Circular Dichroism (CD), SPR, recombinant protein expression, biochemical assays, protein-ligand interactions, organic synthesis involving peptides, peptidomimics etc.
