Biography
Mr. Sitendu Mandal is currently a Senior Principal Scientist and Head in the department of Glass Division CSIR Central glass and ceramic research institute India. He completed Msc in Chemistry. He is Received the prestigious CSIR - DAAD Scholarship for 16 months to carry out research and developmental work in the field of Special glass development in Germany for the block year 1994-95 under CSIR -DAAD fellowship program, Received Malaviya Award for 2004 in the 70th Annual Session of the Indian Ceramic Society held on January 8, 2007 at Visakhapatnam for contribution in the field of Ceramic Science & Technology as presented in the paper entitled Rehydration Characteristics of Lithium Aluminum Silicon Hydroxy Hydrogel by S. Mandal, S. Chakrabarti & S. Ghatak published in the Journal Transactions Indian Ceramic Society, Vol. 63, pp 203-209, 2004 etc.
Research Interest
Optical glass Technology, Specialty Glass development, low expansion ceramics. The undersigned has more than 25 years of experience in Research and Developmental work in the field of glass science & technology. The activities of the undersigned resulted in development of appropriate technology, development of product, generation of knowledge base in the form of technical papers, patents, reports etc. His current research activities are in the areas of high density glass for radiation protection in nuclear hot cell and specialty borosilicate glass frit / bead for nuclear waste fixation wherein technology development and commercialization have been the main focus. While the radiation shielding glass is being produced in pilot scale at CGCRI for catering to the need of DAE, the technology of specialty glass beads has been successfully transferred to an industrial partner for commercial production and supply to DAE’s ancillary units.
