Biography
Mrinmay Pal (born July-1973) did M. Tech in Optics & Opto-electronics from Calcutta University and received Ph.D from Jadavpur University, India. He joined as a scientist on February, 2001 at CSIR-Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata. He has worked on development of EDFA optical amplifier modules for CATV and WDM applications and PCF-based Supercontinuum source with industrial collaboration. Dr. Pal is now at CSIR-CGCRI in the position of senior scientist where he is doing work on development of fiber lasers, SC source and Hollow-core PCF for industrial and biomedical applications. His research interest is in ultra-fast fiber laser technology and generation of novel laser sources at UV-VIS-IR regimes. He has published more than 50 nos of research papers in journals and conference proceedings as author and co-author and holding two US patents on fabrication of rare-earth doped fibers. Dr. Pal is a member of Optical Society of America (2006) and life member of Optical Society of India.
