Biography
Asif Khan taught journalism course at Media Education Research Centre, Kashmir University before joining department of Convergent Journalism, Central University of Kashmir Srinagar as Assistant Professor in February 2012. Previously he worked as Head- Media Department at Wigan & Leigh College India for over three years and as Director (Incharge) at Anhad Institute of Media Studies, Srinagar J&K. Asif Khan has also worked for English newspapers like Rising Kashmir as Associate Editor and as Page Editor for Etalaat English daily. Asif Khan qualified National Eligibility Test (CSIR/UGC) exam in first attempt in third Semester of his Masters course at University of Kashmir. He received certificate of Golden Seal & Competence for Creative Writing in fiction/non-fiction by Writers Bureau, United Kingdom, besides Film & TV training from Department of Communication Studies, Pune University. He has been a Trainer for Panos South Asia for media professionals and students in Urban & New Media studies and has had training in BBC iLearn project/Feature Writing sponsored by BBC World Service Trust. Asif Khan is recipient of 2010-2011 Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship for Leadership Development. He has conducted research case study on life and works of Marshal Herbert McLuhan for his Masters degree and also was awarded Masters in Philosophy (MPhil) for his research on the topic “National Print Media Response to post 9/11 Indo - US Economic & Strategic Cooperationâ€. He has submitted his PhD thesis on Convergence Journalism at Media Education Rsearch Centre, Kashmir University.
