Biography
Dr. Showkat Ahmad Shah, Assistant Professor, Department of Religious Studies, Central University of Kashmir, B.Sc, B.A (Arabic), Diploma in Modern Spoken Arabic, TESOL Diploma through American TESOL Institute, Kolkata. He has done his M.Phil on “A Critical Study of Jurji Zaydan’s The History of Islamic Civilization”. Dr Shah was awarded Ph. D on “Sirah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the Orientalists (A Study of the Approach of William Montgomery Watt)” from the University of Kashmir. Before joining Department of Religious Studies, Central University of Kashmir, he has taught at Shah-i-Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies, University of Kashmir. Dr. Shah has also worked as lecturer in abroad for several years. He has several publications to his credit. His field of interest includes Islam and Orientalism, Sirah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Islam and the West, Islam and Modern World, World Major Religions and Modern Spoken and functional Arabic.
