Biography
Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din Mir was born on 17th October 1951. He completed his LL.B, LL.M and Ph.D from Aligarh Muslim University. His main focus has been on the criminal justice system and its different segments. He has a teaching experience of more than 35 years both at LL.B & LL.M level. He has more than 45 research publications in the national and international journals and two reference books. He has also edited a number of books/journals, including four volumes on "Higher Education: Problems and Prospects". Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din has completed a number of UGC, MHRD, ICSSR, NISD, BPRD and other research projects. Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din has participated in more than 150 seminars/conferences/ at national and international level. He is an expert member in various committees. Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din has visited more than fifty-five universities/institutions as a resource person/expert. He has been a member of the drafting committee of the "Model Jail Manual 2000" for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He has held a number of key positions in the University of Kashmir, which among others include; Dean Students Welfare; Controller of Examinations; Head and Dean, Faculty of Law; Director, UGC-ASC and Registrar of the university. He was conferred a number of fellowships and awards including Max Planck Fellowship, Germany, Indian Network of Researchers, UNESCO; LOSOU Consultant, Malaysia and ISC Fellowships, India. He is a member of Faculty BORS and Ph.D examiners of a number of universities. He has visited number of countries including Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Egypt, Dubai, Pakistan, Denmark Sweden, Myanmar and presented papers in the international conferences. He presently holds the position of Vice Chancellor at Central University of Kashmir.
