Biography
Mohd Ali Shabbir joined the department as Assistant Professor in August 2012. Since then he has been teaching British Novel, Romantic and Victorian poetry, in the department. Mohd Ali Shabbir did his B.A (H) and M.A in English from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He also did his M.A in Mass Communication from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC), JMI, New Delhi. He wrote a dissertation entitled ''Co-relation Between Advertisements of Male Cosmetics and Changing Trends in Urban Youth" as a part of his research program at AJK MCRC. He has both directed and acted in a few short films and radio plays as a part of the student project assigned to him at AJK MCRC. He was actively associated with Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) during his college days and has performed a number of street plays also. He qualified UGC NET in English in 2011. He has attended a number of National and International Seminars. He presented a paper entitled "Finding space for the migrant voice: A Ladakhi Migrant's Short Story and its Awkward Reception", in an International Conference on the subject ‘Arts and Aesthetics in a Globalising World’. His areas of interest in academic endeavours include subaltern studies, religious texts, performing arts, cinema studies, fiction and poetry.
