Biography
Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain is the present Head & Dean of the School of Legal Studies. He has done his LL.B, LL.M, Ph.D from Aligarh Muslim University. His main focus has been Human Rights & International Law. He has a vast academic experience of more than twenty years in teaching and research which include his teaching experience as assistant professor for five years at International Islamic University, Malaysia. He has written four books, four chapters in books authored by prominent scholars, fourteen articles and more than hundred articles in news papers. He has completed two research projects and has written teaching materials for department of distance education, University of Kashmir. The learned researcher has participated in twenty five seminars, conferences and workshops including seven overseas. He is a member of task force constituted by Ministry of Social Welfare for monitoring orphanages in J&K. He has been regularly visiting IIPA & DDE, ASC as a resource person. He has participated in training programmes in teaching Human Rights at International Institute of Human Rights in Strasberg, France, International Humanitarian Law Geneva. Moreover, he has been an advisor for Jessup Moot Court team IIU Malaysia. His lectures have been widely telecasted on several TV channels like Gyan Darshan, D.D Kashir etc.
