Biography

Dr. Mohan A.K., is currently serving as an Associate Professor, Department of Social Work, Central University of Kerala, Periye, Kasaragod, Kerala. He has done Masters in Social Work (MSW) from School of Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore and awarded Doctoral Degree in Social Work from University of Mysore, Mysuru. He is specialized in Community Development. He has nineteen years of rich experience in Academic, Research, Administration and social work practice. He rendered his service in MYRADA, BIRDS, Roshni Nilaya, SRIJAN-UNDP, New Delhi, SDM Education Society, Ujire, and University of Mysore before joining Central University of Kerala. Dr. Mohan has taken up many developmental projects and involved in monitoring and evaluation of various projects of Government and Non-governmental organizations such as Directorate of Mass Education, Government of Karnataka; Directorate of Municipal Administration, Government of Karnataka; CAPART, New Delhi; National Institute of Social Defense, New Delhi. He supervised three major research projects such as Residual Illiteracy programme and Sakshara Jyothi, Mandya; preparation of District Protection Plan (Child protection) for Mysuru, Skill-gap Analysis for Mysuru city and ‘Sustainable Solution for sanitary Napkin Disposal in the University of Mysore’. As an active and enthusiastic academician, had organized Seminars and Workshops for the effective knowledge sharing. To name a few seminars on ‘Challenges in Social Work’ through Roshni Alumni association, Mysore Chapter, a training programme on ‘Counselling Skills for Street Educators’ at University of Mysore, Mysuru; and workshop on ‘Skill Gap Analysis of Job Seekers’ and ‘Skill Gap Analysis of Social Work Students’ University of Mysore, Mysuru. Dr. Mohan has published twenty six research papers in reputed national and international journals. He has also contributed about twelve papers/chapters in many books on various areas focusing on integrated education for special children, women participation in Panchayathi Raj, Humanitarian and Social Science courses, Social Work practicum, counselling skills, etc. He is also author of book entitled ‘Political Participation of Women in Panchayati Raj’. He has chaired and presented several papers in national and international seminars/conferences. He is associated with professional bodies such as Karnataka Association of Professional Social Workers, Indian Association of Professional Social Work, and Chaitanya Foundation, Udupi.
