Biography
Dr. Muthukalingan Krishnan Professor Department of Biochemistry School of Life Sciences Central University of Rajasthan Prof. Muthukalingan KRISHNAN has retired after 27 years of his service at Bharathidasan University and joined as Professor of Biochemistry, School of Life Science at Central University of Rajasthan, Ajmer. More than a decade he served as Professor and Head, Department of Environmental Biotechnology, Chair, School of Environmental Sciences, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India. He has also served as Co-ordinator for Bharathidasan University Business Development cell, Co-ordinator, DST-PURSE programme and Co-ordinator for UGC Innovative programme “Environmental Genomics” and Member for National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Prof. Krishnan joined Bharathidasan University in 1989 and established silkworm molecular biology laboratory, which is recognized globally for its excellence. Dr. Krishnan has played a pivotal role in founding the School of Environmental Sciences including the Department of Environmental Biotechnology in Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. His research interest has majorly revolved around the improvement of seed and silk production of silk worm. Some of his findings were recognized by Central Silk Board, Bangalore for implementing fortification of the mulberry leaves in sericulture industry, which procured him a National Patent. He has also played a crucial role in developing smart molecules for pest management in an eco-friendly manner through proteomic approach. He has published over 120 scientific papers in peer reviewed National and International journals. He has also guided Twenty one Ph.D students. Dr. M. Krishnan has obtained numerous honors and awards from various national and international Agencies’. He has received funding for his research and also for the development of the department from Government of India and International Agencies.
