Biography
Dr. Nitish Kumar is a plant biologist and has been working on Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular markers Development and Transgenic Technology. Recently he has started working on Microbial Biotechnology focusing on Bioremediation. He obtained Masters Degree in Agricultural Biotechnology from Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur and PhD Degree in Botany from Bhavnagar University and worked at CSIR-Central Salt & Chemical Research Institute, Bhavnagar as a JRF/SRF during his PhD tenure. Dr. Kumar has published a number of research papers in peer-reviewed journals of national & international repute. Besides, he has filed two patents (US and PCT) in the field of regeneration and micropropagation of Jatropha curcas plants from leaf explants and nodal segments. He has received many Awards\Fellowships during his academic career from different organizations like CSIR, DBT, ICAR and DST. Recently he got Fast Track Young Scientist Award from DST, Govt. of India.
