Biography

Dr. Samapika Mohapatra was an academic research scholar in the Centre for Study of Social Systems, JNU, New Delhi. Prior to joining as an Associate Professor and Head in the Centre for Development Studies, in the Central University of South Bihar at Gaya in Feb ,2016, she was teaching as an Associate Professor in  the Department of  Sociology / Women Studies at Banasthali University , Rajasthan. Even earlier she had been a valuable faculty in a college of Bikaner University and in Jamia Millia Islamia University , New Delhi. She has accumulated several years of experiences in the field of teaching, research and extension activities. So far several research projects sponsored by UGC have been successfully completed by her. She has authored two books, entitled ‘Exploring Slum Children’s Life World’ by Serials publication and ‘Education and Women Empowerment’ by Palm Leaf Publication and many of her research articles have been published in national and international journals. She has also participated and presented research papers in National and International conferences. AS a meritorious student she has got national merit scholarship in her school and college days. Besides her good academic career, she used to be a sports person and as a state champion in Badminton, she has played many times in national level Badminton tournaments both at junior and senior level. Now a days she has been working intensively in the field of ‘Sociology of Sports’ especially Culture of Femininity and Sports.  She was associated with “Special Olympics ,Bharat”, an  International Organization and had  contributed her  efforts in organizing  national level competition/tournament and workshop  ( Inspire Hope )for mentally challenged children in “Vasant-Valley School’ ,New Delhi in the year 2005.

Sociology of Sports, Women’s Sports, Women Studies /Gender studies, Sexuality, Human Rights and LGBT Rights, Sociology of Elderly, Marginalized section especially poor slum children& Tribal Studies, Dalit Studies, Human Rights and LGBT Rights, Social Exclusion and Inclusive Development.
