Prof. Tej Bahadur Singh

Biography

Professor Tej Bahadur Singh a postgraduate in Psychology (1975) from Ranchi University pursued his studies for his professional qualification at Central Institute of Psychiatry under the same University. He was awarded postgraduate Diploma in Psychiatric Social Work( Academic Sessions: 1977-1979 ), Diploma in Medical and Social Psychology(Academic Sessions: 1979-1981) and Doctoral degree(1990) by CIP Ranchi. As his special area of interest he had training in organizing community oriented services from Community Development and Panchayati Raj Training Institute, Ranchi(1976). His professional career began as Research Officer(1981) in the Department of Psychiatry, Postgraduate Institute Medical Education and Research; Chandigarh, subsequently as Lecturer in Clinical Psychology(1983) he served National Institute for the Visually Handicapped; Dehradun and as Deputy Director: Psycho-Social Division(1996), National Institute of Public Cooperation and child development; New Delhi. Under British Council Technical Collaboration Fellowship (1991), he had training in Special Education and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation at University of Birmingham,UK. He joined Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences as Assistant Professor Clinical Psychology, in the year 1996(October) and superannuated as Professor and Head: Department of Clinical Psychology in the year 2012(June). In the year 2008 he was appointed Dean; IHBAS. Department of Clinical Psychology of IHBAS, professionally and academically is comparable to any other existing Clinical Psychology department of the country. IHBAS; a training centre of excellence, is producing 18 (from the year 2006 onwards) Clinical Psychologists every year. As Dean (Institute of Behavioural Science) and Professor; Clinical Psychology he also served Institute of Behavioural science , Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat (2013). He was appointed (Feb.2014) as Faculty and Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry, Institute of Medical Sciences, by Banaras Hindu University and superannuated from the services of BHU in the year 2015(June). Currently he is serving Centre for Psychological Sciences under Central University of South Bihar; Patna, as Professor: Psychology (from Dec. 2015 onwards) & Head ; Centre for Psychological Sciences. Who is also Dean of School of Human Sciences. His affiliation to professional associations as fellow member includes Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists, Social Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Community Psychology, National Academy of Psychology, NAOP-India (Member) , Delhi Psychiatric Society (Life Member) and Indian Psychiatric Society(Life Associate Member). He was a member on the Editorial Board (1987 to 2012) of International Journal of Rehabilitation Research (U.K.). Currently he is a member on the Editorial Board of Disabilities & Impairments (India). There are 64 research publications and 21 research monographs and chapters in books to his credit published in various national and international journals. As senior faculty and chief/joint investigator he supervised research projects (15); research work of 20 students at doctoral and post graduate level in Clinical Psychology. He provided leadership to Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists for two years (2008-2009) as President of the Association.
