Professor
Biological Sciences, AcSIR
Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology
India
Biography
Dr. Ramesh Kumar Aggarwal obtained his Ph. D. in Genetics from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. He joined the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad in 1987. He also worked as a Project Scientist at International Rice Research Institute, Manila, Phillippines. Now he is working as Chief Scientist (Director Grade) at CCMB.
Research Interest
Dr. Aggarwal's major research interest has been the 'development and application of DNA markers/tools' for wildlife conservation, crop improvement and disease diagnosis. He contributed significantly in the development of first 'multi-locus DNA fingerprinting' technology in India, especially in demonstrating its 'universality', and potential in population/ phylogenetics studies.
