Biography
Dr. Sunil Kumar Verma (DOB: 28 Sept 1974) did his doctorate in Medical Oncology from the University of Oxford, UK. He is currently serving as Principal Scientist in the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), located in Hyderabad, India. Dr Verma has received many honours and awards for his contributions to Indian Science and Technology – including the Emerging Forensic Scientist Continental Award from the International Association of Forensics Sciences (IAFS), USA in 1999, CSIR Technology Award for Life Science in 2008, BioAsia Innovation Award in 2009 and NRDC Meritorious Invention Award in 2009. The national and international scholarships that Verma has received include – ICAR Scholarship during 1991-1995, DBT Scholarship in 1995-1997, Commonwealth Scholarships in 2003-2007, Lindau Fellowship in 2003 and Max Planck India Fellowship in 2010-2013. Since 2010, Verma is also serving as Expert member on the Scientific Panel in the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and Research Ambassador of DAAD to promote the bidirectional research endeavors between India and Germany.
