Biography
T.N. Madan is Honorary Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth, University of Delhi. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute, London, and Docteur Honoris Causa of the University of Paris (Nanterre). He was chairman of CSDS from 2003 to 2008. Madan has numerous publications to his name, including Family and Kinship: a Study of the Pandits of Rural Kashmir (1966); Culture and Development (1983); Non-renunciation: Themes and Interpretations of Hindu Culture (1987); Pathways: Approaches to the Study of Society in India (1994); Modern Myths, Locked Minds: Secularism and Fundamentalism in India (1997);The Hindu Householder (2010); Sociological Traditions: Methods and Perspectives in the Sociology of India (2011).
