Dr. Sarat Battina

Biography

Dr Sarat Battina is the consultant gynaecologist and director of reproductive medicine at Indigo Womens Center. Having done his graduation and masters from Kurnool medical college, Andhra Pradesh, he had underwent IVF training at National University Hospital, Singapore under supervision of Prof. S.S Ratnam and Dr. NG Soon Chye and at King’s college school of medicine, London under Dr. John Parsons. Dr. Sarat is the pioneer of fertility treatment in South India, delivered first GIFT baby of Tamil Nadu in 1989, first IVF twins of South India in 1991and the first IVF baby from frozen semen sample in India. He was in-charge of IVF programme at Apollo hospitals Chennai, since 1989.Dr. Sarat Battina’s career spans three decades with many prestigious awards consisting of “Young achiever award” by JCI, Ugadi Puraskar Millennium award” by Madras Telugu Academy 2000. He is a guide for post – doctoral fellowship in reproductive medicine at Apollo hospitals, Chennai affiliated to Dr. MGR Medical University in 2012 and PhD programme in reproductive medicine at Dr MGR Medical University. Convener for the prestigious exit examination in 2013 for post-doctoral fellows of reproductive medicine. Dr. Sarat Battina is also certified robotic surgeon by Intuitive Surgicals, Strasbourg, France 2011. He addressed and presided many FOGSI and IMA meetings and is a professional member in FOGSI, ISAR, ESHRE, and ASRM.Dr. Sarat Battina has many national and internal paper presentations to his credit and also contributed a chapter in “Textbook of infertility” by Dr. Jayakrishnan. He conducted several camps in and around Chennai. Dr. Sarat Battina with extensive experience and passion in all aspects of assisted reproductive technology continues his service with an objective of maintaining high success rates in infertility and introducing new technologies in this field. [shrink]
