Biography
Having received her BE and ME degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from College of Engineering, Pune, Maharashtra, India, in 1976, and 1982, MSc(Tech) by research from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK in 1990 and the PhD degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from Pune University, India in 2000, she also has professional qualifications such as senior member of IEEE, Fellow of IET, FIEIE (I) and FIETE(I). This along with 35 years of teaching and industry experience has helped her rise from a lecturer to a Professor. She has worked as Head of E & TC department, Dean Student activities and Dean R & D at COEP. Presently she is founder chair, Pune Local Network of IET. She started from being a student member and now is a fellow of IET. She was associated with Mumbai network from 1994 to 2012 in different capacities such as committee member and vice chair. With untiring efforts she has started IET Pune network. She has worked on different committees of IET India like the scholarship committee and as a judge. She was the first person to start conducting PATW of IET in India and has also conducted two IET conferences. She has been instrumental in starting Academic Affiliate program at COEP. Her research interests include digital signal processing and image processing. She has published more than 132 papers and 3 books. She is working as a reviewer of Springer, Elsevier and IET journals. IETE SVC Aiya award memorial awards 2011 was bestowed upon her owing to her excellence in research and education. She was also felicitated with the Best teacher award 2010-11 by Maharashtra Government. She has inspired many young minds and if elected she would be able to share her rich research experience with the aspiring engineers.
