Rolf Stahel

Biography

Rolf Stahel, a Swiss national, is a veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, known for his marketing and business acumen. He worked for over 25 years with Wellcome plc in Switzerland, Italy, Thailand, Singapore and the UK. Mr. Stahel joined Shire Pharmaceuticals Group in 1994 as its Chief Executive when the company was privately held and had an estimated value of approximately $30Mn, revenues of $3Mn and 50 employees. He implemented six mergers and acquisitions and nine years later, Shire had a market capitalization of approximately $3.2Bn, revenues of $1.1 Bn with 1800 employees. Mr Stahel served as non-executive Chairman of three international pharma companies - Newron Pharmaceuticals S.p.A (a neurology company), Cosmo Pharmaceuticals S.p.A. (a drug delivery company mainly in gastroenterology), EUSA Pharma Inc. (a cancer and neurology company).  He currently holds the following positions: Executive Chairman of Chesyl Pharma Ltd (consultancy service provider to pharmaceutical portfolio companies) and Non-Executive Chairman of Connexios Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Midatech Ltd. (a nonomedicine company), and Ergomed Clinical Research Ltd. (specializes in providing clinical research services in the fields of oncology, neurology, immunology and rare diseases).
