He is a Senior Scientist at the CSIR(Council of Scientific & Industrial Research)-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, India.
Research Interest
Total synthesis of antigenic Glycolipids: Total synthesis of the phospholipomannan (PLM) which was found in cell wall of Candida albicans. It is most widespread human pathogen responsible for cutaneous and systemic fungal infections, synthesize a unique sequences of β-1,2-oligomannan on its cell surface that act as adhesion, induce production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and antibodies. And it is highly immunogenic due to its β-1,2-mannan structural motif, which is absent in human host. The PLM is a strong TNF-α inducer in vivo and in vitro. The target molecule contain synthetic challenges such as an unusual β-1,2-oligomannan, Anomeric phosphodiester and phyto sphingosine linked to saccharide through phosphate.
