Dr. A. P. Singh

Biography

Dr. Anand P. Singh received B. Sc. (Hons.) and M. Sc. (Tech.) degrees from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Ph. D. from the Osmania University, Hyderabad. Dr. Singh started his career as a Junior Research Scholar (CSIR) and is currently a Senior Principal Scientist in Gravity/|Magnetic Group at the National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad. Dr. Singh’s areas of interest include Gravity/Magnetic data collection, processing, modeling and interpretation for hydrocarbon exploration, natural hazard assessment and tectonic studies. Dr. Singh is well known for his works on delineation of magmatic underplating at the base of the crust beneath the large igneous provinces of India and ancient suture zones in the Indian shield regions. Presently, working on the isostatic compensation of Indian shield at the lithospheric scale and stability assessment of abandoned unfilled old working of Deulbera Coal Mine. He has contributed extensively in several industry sponsored projects to delineate the hydrocarbon potential zones in trap covered areas of west-central India and frontal basins in north-east India. The Gravity Map Series of India - 2006, jointly published by the National Geophysical Research Institute and Geological Survey of India, is well received by the geoscientists world over and forms basis for formulating the major geo-scientific projects.
