Biography
Dr Shailendra K. Saxena is an independent Senior Scientist of Medical Biotechnology and Project Leader at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in India. He has a wide ranging experience in infectious diseases research. The main research interests of his group are in the epidemiology and molecular mechanisms of host defense during human viral infections with a special focus on RNA viruses (HIV, JEV etc.). He has received many awards and honors including the Fogarty International Center, NIH (USA) MERIT Award, for HIV/AIDS prevention research (2008-2018). He was named as the “Global Leader in Science” by The Scientist magazine (USA) and as an “International Opinion Leader / Expert” by the International Pharmaceutical Industry Consultants (UK).
Research Interest
His research focusses on Medical Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Virology, Infectious Diseases, Antiviral drug development.
