Biography
Dr. Ummanni has worked mainly on prostate cancer related projects identifying new potential biomarkers and understanding cell-signalling mechanisms driven by de-regulated proteins specifically in prostate cancer. Especially he worked with proteomics platforms for differential as well as functional proteomics. Currently he is working in many comprehensive projects related to identifying new chemical entities with anti-cancer and anti-tubercular potential using cell based and target based screening of small molecule libraries. Our group is actively pursuing investigations in understanding disease mechanisms and drugable targets specific to different solid tumors. His group is also working towards identifying new molecular entities against reverse transcriptases with anti-viral activities.
Research Interest
Proteomics, Signal transduction and Chemical Biology. Non invasive biomarkers for Prostate cancer screening, Understanding role of differentially altered protein in Prostate cancer progression. Small molecules for modulation of drug targets relevant to cancer and tuberculosis.
