Biography
Dr. Jagadeesh Bharatam is a leading practitioner of Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy of the country, and specializes in both solid-state as well as solution-state NMR methods and related instrumentation. He is currently a Senior Principal Scientist in the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and heads the NMR & Structural Chemistry Division, country’s largest NMR base with nine high-field NMR spectrometers and engaged in diverse research activities. He received his PhD degree from the School of Physics, University of Hyderabad in 1994. Subsequently, he carried out his postdoctoral research studies at University of Waterloo, Canada and University of Florida, USA. He is a recipient of prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and carried out his research work at RWTH, Aachen and Technical University, Munich, Germany.
Research Interest
NMR and molecular dynamics. Homo-decoupling and Ultra-high resolution NMR : Development of novel solution and solid-state NMR methods for spectral simplification of complex organic molecules and natural products. DFT-based design and experimental determination molecular scaffolds that mimic natural biomolecular folding and hydrogen bond patterns and transient state computations of chemical reactions.
