Biography
Dr. Sridhar was born on 1st August, 1963 in a village Ponnur, Guntur Dist., Andhra Pradesh. He joined in IICT as a research fellow in 1988 and obtained Ph.D. in Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. U.T. Bhalerao, Director Grade Scientist, IICT. During his Ph.D. work, he discovered that electron rich arenes such as methoxylated benzenes mimic semiconductors in inducing photooxidations through electron transfer process. During 1993-96, he studied PET mediated photooxidations and biocatalytic organic transformations. During 1996-2008, as a CSIR Fellow(QRF), he developed new fluorinated dienophiles and studied their reactivity in Diels-Alder cycloadditions. During 1998-2006, as a Scientist C in Fluoroorganics group, IICT, worked extensively in development of processes for industrially important fluoro compounds which include HFC-134a, trifluoroacetic acid, trifluoroethanol, 2,4-difluorochlorobenzene, 1,1,1-trifluorotrichloroethane, heptafluoropropane, 1,1-difluoro, 2-chloroethane, Kel F 800, FEP resin etc. During 2003-04, worked as a post doctoral fellow at Kangwon National University, South Korea with Prof. Phil Ho Lee and studied synthesis and applications of organoindium reagents. From 2006 onwards, as a independent investigator, attracted several sponsored projects and developed processes for acetohydroxamic acid, formohyroxymic acid, SXFA polymer, HFIP polymer, New siloxane fluoroalcohols, 1,1-difluoroethane and vinylidene fluoride. He is also actively pursuing academic research in organic synthesis and catalysis, and published 50 papers in reputed international journals and co-authored one book chapter. His one of the important contributions is studies on novel synthetic applications of acetohydroxamic acid.
