Sue Nelson

Biography

Sue Nelson has held senior leadership positions in the individual and small group health insurance field for over 25 years. She was VP of Underwriting at Employers Health Insurance for 15 years, American Medical Security for 7 years and PacifiCare for 2 years. For the last 4 years, she has operated her own independent consulting company, Nelson Consulting, and has assisted health insurance carriers both stateside and internationally with establishing commercial product lines, risk assessment processes, pricing and streamlining insurance operational issues. Sue also does third party reviews for post issue cases as well as expert witness testimony for Insurance Companies. Sue serves as the Co-Executive Director of LOMA’s Health Underwriting Study Group and is involved in underwriting issues at a national level. She has her HIA and LOMA designations and was one of the founders of the Northeast WI Underwriter Association. Sue has been guest speaker at many industry sessions including LOMA & SOA conferences.
