Biography
Jaideep Mulherkar is working as Assistant Professor in Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information & Communication Technology. PhD. from Department of Mathematics, U.C. Davis (2009). NSF VIGRE fellowship Spring 2006, Summer 06, Summer 07, Summer 08 Dept of Mathematics, UC Davis.
Research Interest
His research interests are in the areas of quantum spin systems, classical and quantum information theory and quantum Markov chains. In his PhD thesis under Prof. Bruno Nachtergaele at U.C. Davis he worked on the Heisenberg ferromagnetic XXZ model with some applications to quantum computation. Heis also interested in finitely correlated states in spin chains and their applications in quantum information. The classical analogues of these states are called algebraic measures and are equivalent to hidden Markov processes. Recently he worked on computing entropy rate formulas for a class of hidden Markov models. He also spend a summer with Prof. K.R. Parthasarathy working on Gaussian states in quantum mechanics and connections with quantum information. On the side, he is also interested in the area of mathematical finance particularly financial option pricing theory and he like to work on projects with undergraduate students on this topic.
