Biography
Dr Pravin Vaddavalli is an alumnus of Bangalore Medical College, and did his internship at Victoria Hospitals and Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital, Bangalore. Following his Masters in Ophthalmology from Guntur Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, he completed a fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment at LVPEI, Hyderabad and subsequently joined the Institute in 2004. In 2011, Dr. Vaddavalli completed a one-year fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, USA, which is rated as the #1 institute for Ophthalmology in the USA.
Research Interest
He was awarded the Young Investigator Award for outstanding research in clinical ophthalmology in 2005 at the SERI – ARVO meet in Singapore; the ‘Best Paper in Cornea’ award at the All India Ophthalmological Society annual meet in 2006; the Shiv Prasad Hardia award for best paper in refractive surgery in 2009; and other international awards, including three consecutive best paper awards at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He serves as a reviewer for numerous international journals and has over 70 peer reviewed publications and over 300 national and international presentations to his credit.
