Biography
Dr. Jyotsna Bakshi is Visiting Senior Fellow at the ICWA. She is working on a research project sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research entitled “South Asian-Central Asian Geopolitical Dynamics: Threats of Terrorism and Drug Trafficking and Prospects of Transport and Energy Corridors.” From 2006 to 2009, she was India Chair Professor at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. From 2002 to 2005, she was Associate Professor at the Centre for Indian Studies at Osh State University, Kyrgyzstan. She has been a Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi. Her area of specialization is Eurasian Geopolitics with focus on Russia and Central Asia. A Ph.D. from Punjab University, Chandigarh, she has done two years’ research fieldwork at the Institute of Oriental Studies, Moscow (Academy of Sciences, USSR). She has a Kandidatskii Minimum Diploma in Russian language from the Department of Foreign Languages, Moscow, Academy of Sciences, USSR. She has taught Post-Graduate and Degree classes for a number of years. Dr. Bakshi has traveled widely in Russia, Central Asia, Europe and China. She has published more than 70 research papers and articles.
