Biography
Dr. S. Kalyanaraman is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses. His areas of research are: India’s foreign policy and defence strategy; and, Asian and global security. A PhD in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, he has been a Visiting Fellow at the Department of War Studies, Kings College London and a recipient of the Nehru Centenary British Fellowship. He has represented India in the 7-country Track 1.5 dialogue on “Rise of Asia” initiated by the Carnegie Endowment in 2007 and 2008. And he has representedat IDSA in the now-renamed Strategic Studies Network organised by the US National Defense University’s Near East and South Asia Centre. Dr. Kalyanaraman has delivered lectureson India’s foreign and security policies as well as on Asian and global security at several civil and military training institutions including National Defence College, New Delhi, Army War College, Mhow, Foreign Service Institute, New Delhi, National Police Academy, Hyderabad, and National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. Since October 2014, he has also been a member of faculty at the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies, Phuentsholing, Bhutan.
