Biography
Zoya Hasan is Professor of Political Science at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and is a Member of the National Commission for Minorities in India. Previously, she taught at the Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. She has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Zurich, University of Edinburgh, and Maison Des Sciences Del’ Homme, Paris and has held Fellowships at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, Rockefeller Centre, Bellagio, and Centre for Modern Oriental Studies. She has been Chairperson of the Centre for Political Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Honorary Director of the Programme for the Study of Discrimination and Exclusion and the Women’s Studies Programme of the Jawaharlal Nehru University. Professor Hasan was the Chairperson of the Working Group on ‘Empowering the Minorities,’ Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-2012), Planning Commission, Member, Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), Member, Board of Governors, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, and Member, India-European Union Round Table.
