Biography

 Dr. Atul Sharma Joshi, MBBS, MS, is a Senior Consultant - General Surgery & Minimal Access Surgery at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. Prior to joining Fortis Hospital, Mohali, he had a career stint as a Consultant at the Post Graduate Institute (PGI), Government Medical College, Chandigarh and Government Medical College, Patiala.  After completing his MBBS from Government Medical College, Patiala, he went on to complete his post graduation in General Surgery from the famous medical institute PGIMER, Chandigarh. Thereafter, he accomplish his fellowship in minimal access surgery (FMAS) which was conferred by the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India. Dr. Joshi has completed his basic and advanced course in Laparoscopic Surgery from GEM Institute, Coimbatore under the supervision of the renowned laparoscopic surgeon Prof. Palanivelu. He is a trained trauma surgeon from the Tan Tok Seng Hospital, Singapore.   He has worked extensively in trauma, emergency surgery, colo- proctology, onco-surgery and hernia surgery. His area of interest is Minimal Access and Bariatric surgery. He has been exposed to ICU care as an intensivisto    He is an acclaimed surgeon who is skilled to perform all advanced laparoscopic procedures in addition to all complex open surgical procedures.    To his credits, he was the first  to perform the laparoscopic diaphragmatic hernia repair in the Tricity and has thousands of laparoscopic procedures to his credit. Besides, he has contributed more than 20 research papers in various national and international journals. Dr. Joshi is well known for his exclusive work in his field viz., ·         Has a series of cases in adult intussusceptions presenting as obstruction with underlying tumor ·         Has a series of about 10 cases of trauma presenting with diaphragmatic rupture and repaired. ·         Complicated and recurrent hernias presenting with or without intestinal strangulation with co morbidities. ·         Complicated gall bladder surgeries managed laparoscopically. ·         Series of cases of Hydatid Liver diseases managed laparoscopically. ·         Cases presenting with intestinal obstruction managed laparoscopically. ·         Complicated emergency surgeries and trauma cases.
