Syed Azhar Ahmed

Biography

Dr. Syed Azhar Ahmed, is the Head of the UG & PG Life Sciences which includes courses in Microbiology & Biotechnology departments, Garden City College. He completed his Ph.D. in Food Microbiology from the Department of Microbiology & Biotechnology of prestigious Bangalore University and has completed his M.Phil in Biotechnology and M.Sc. in Microbiology. He is the Advisor of the Honorary Consulate of The Republic of Maldives in Bangalore. He is also a trained National Service Scheme Officer (Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs Govt. of India) at Garden City College. He had been a member of Board of Examinations, Bangalore University, Tumkur University and several autonomous colleges.He has several International and National publications to his credit. His publication is indexed in American National Engineering Database (ANED). He has also presented papers and actively participated in many International and National conferences, workshops and seminars. He is a life member of the Indian Red Cross Society, Association of Food Scientists & Technologists India and Quality Circle Forum of India.His key strengths are organizing voluntary camps on the campus and off campus, encourage mentality for service among the students. The areas of his academic interests are in food microbiology, bioprocess engineering, environmental microbiology and fermentation technology.
