Biography
Prof. Shamsuddin Ahmad received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from M.M.M. Engg. College, University of Gorakhpur, India in 1970, the M.E. degree in Advance Electrical Machines in 1972 and Ph.D. degree in 1983, both from University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee), India.He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University (A.M.U.), Aligarh, India, as Lecturer in 1972, promoted as Reader in 1983 and Professor in 2005. He has over 40 years experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in A.M.U., Aligarh, including 5 years in a university abroad. His main fields of interest are electrical drives, electrical machines and computer aided electrical machine design. He has published research papers in reputed international and national journals and conferences. He worked as Coordinator of a project sponsored by The All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi (India) from 1998-2000. He was awarded Khosla Research Commendation Certificate by University of Roorkee in 1983. Prof. Ahmad is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of System Society of India, and also was a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), U.S.A. He retired from A.M.U., Aligarh in 2013. Since August, 2014, he is working as Professor of Electrical Engg. in GLA University, Mathura.
Research Interest
His research work includes the study of stability of electric drives and the effects of mechanical features on performance of electric drives, specially under resonance condition.
