Biography

He is the Professor in the department of biotechnology,(Goa University).He has done his Ph.D.(Biotechnology, Goa University; 1997).He has an experience of more than 10 years. He has been awarded for many of his research projects like Screening for thermophilic agarases and its exploitation in DNA recovery from agarose gel. under DST-SERC Fast track proposal for young scientist (2001-04) – Rs 7.25 lakhs. Metagenomic studies on bacterial flora associated with Sargassum sp. from marine environment of Goa and their bioprospecting for novel proteases and alginate lyases. Co-investigator in MOES Network project (In pipeline). Proteomics studies on OMZ bacteria (In pipeline). He is the Member of IBSC committee for pharmaceutical industries.

Research Interest

His area of Interest is Polysaccharide degrading enzymes from marine bacteria, Prokaryotic and eukaryotic marine viruses, Medicinal plant, Metagenomics of marine bacteria.
